Cabala comprised originally the entire Jewish traditional lore, including the mysteries of Creation and the nature of the ineffable, which were supposed to have been "received" by the power of the Holy Spirit rather than as writings from God's hand . The chief characteristic of the Cabala is that, unlike the Scriptures, "the things spoken only in a whisper" were entrusted only to the few elect ones.
